About us
Sussex MS Centre is a small, independent user led charity founded in 1983 back in the day when there was no real help on hand to those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The Centre is supported by a small team of professional staff and a dedicated Board of Trustees, 5 out of 8 of whom have MS. We provide treatments, therapy, professional and peer support for people with Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions. The Centre also supports people with other conditions when capacity allows such as Cancer, Long Covid, Parkinsons, Stroke survivors, chronic fatigue syndrome and many more.
We offer a variety of treatments and exercise classes to help with symptom management and social events in a fully accessible and safe environment. Oxygen Therapy remains at the heart of what we provide and we have a thriving social calendar (obviously, not during these Covid times). We strive to keep everything affordable for all our members and never refuse treatment on the grounds of ability to pay.
It costs just over £160,000 a year to open our doors every week day, and over 100 members and carers visit us each week. We couldn't do this without our wonderful team of volunteers who received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2013 and dedicated members of staff. Our members donate what they can, and the rest we raise with support from people like you and community groups, donations from charitable trusts, and organising sponsored events. We receive no statutory funding.
Thank you, from all of us, for your support.
